How to Use Twitter to Get Your News

As more and more journalists and news outlets have embraced Twitter, it has become the best source for getting the news as it happens. Journalists are tweeting in real-time from war zones, disaster areas, and crisis hotspots, long before they have full articles to publish or video feeds to broadcast.

So, how can you get your news from Twitter? There are a couple of ways. You can create a Twitter account, spend several hours (at least) searching for and building up a list of sources to follow, and then wade through all the irrelevant retweets and annoying personal replies, to get at those few precious news-worthy tweets. Or…

You could just point your browser to Twoint.com, and instantly get the top news feeds from Twitter, with all the irrelevant retweets and replies filtered out. Twoint selects only the best, most relevant Twitter sources for various news categories. There’s no signing up or logging in, and you don’t have to waste any time figuring out whom to follow.

So what are you waiting for? Head over to Twoint.com to take a look for yourself.

Twoint.com Delivers NBA Draft Selections from the Future (Sort of...)

The 2011 NBA Draft is coming up this Thursday, June 23rd, at 4pm PT. As teams make their selections, David Stern will march up to the podium and announce them to the world. But it’ll be old news for those of us following the proceedings on Twoint.com. From our experience following the NFL and MLB drafts earlier this year, the draft selections appear on Twoint up to several minutes before the commish announces them on TV.

We know what you must be thinking: Twoint has invented a time machine and is breaking the space-time continuum to relay news from the future… Good guess, but not exactly. Instead, Twoint leverages the power of Twitter to make it seem like the news is coming from the future. If you keep an eye on Twoint while watching the NBA Draft, for example, you’ll notice that some of those talking heads on ESPN are actually tweeting the news before they report it on TV. Twoint also follows beat writers for almost every major sports team, and those beat writers are often the first to find out (and tweet) their team’s draft decisions. So while David Stern is waiting for someone to hand him a card, visitors on Twoint.com will already know who the next pick will be.

So to get the picks before David Stern does, point your browser to Twoint.com during the NBA Draft this Thursday. We bet you can convince some of your buddies that you’ve developed psychic powers…
